One of the best performers of Brazilian popular music in France, Philippe Dufour has made several stays in Rio de Janeiro where he studied the choro technique with famous guitarist Rafael Rabello, as well as the African-Brazilian traditions with percussionist Darcy Monteiro. Between 1987 and 1990, he travelled to Rajasthan to study the classical music from North India with sitar player Naresh Kumar. Since 2004, he collaborates on the Jobim Project created by bassist and composer Jean-Marc Jafet. He is the leader of the project Brassens in Brazil, a journey through the repertoire of Georges Brassens, based on an original bossa nova arrangement and served by musicians of international renown.
