FOCUS ON MAY...

This lovely month of May welcomes you for two events, while waiting for the rich programme in June. Drummer Ahmad Compaoré gets together with his guitarist friend Jean-Marc Montera and singer Sophie Gonthier for an atypical "Night of Museums", through an experimental performance around the mythological figure of Europa. And the trio NAFAS will perform at Le JAM - the new and soon not-to-be-missed venue for your musical outings - that proposes an eclectic and quality line-up: to (re)discover and share to your heart's content!

LONG NIGHT OF MUSEUMS

Improvised music performance as part of the "Long Night of Museums".

It is in the Greek room at the MAM (Museum of Mediterranean Archeology), in close proximity to the exhibition "Extraordinary journeys. When gods and heroes travelled the world", that Jean-Marc Montera, guitarist and artistic director of the GRIM, along with percussionist Ahmad Compaoré and singer Sophie Gonthier, will improvise on the mythological figure of Europa: Zeus, charmed by the beautiful Phoenician princess peacefully playing with her friends in a meadow, decides to turn himself into a bull to abduct her gently. Won over by this attractive white bull, Europa climbs on his back and crosses the sea to reach Crete and unite with the God. At the crossroads of oriental, classical and rock influences, an experimental journey at the heart of antique sounds...

Jean-Marc Montera: guitars, objects
Sophie Gonthier: voice, electronics
Ahmad Compaoré: drums, percussion, sampler

NAFAS

World jazz concert.

NAFAS means « breath » in literary Arabic. Vital breath, it is the force that nurtures, inspires and creates. Ahmad Compaoré, Fred Pichot and Sylvain Terminiello have imagined an eclectic and mixed music transcending cultures and social belonging. Between free jazz, fusion and world music, their repertoire travels along the shores of the Mediterranean Sea mixing oriental, afrobeat or klezmer influences, sustained by improvisation and spiced up with a touch of electro.

Ahmad Compaoré: drums, percussions
Fred Pichot: saxophones, flute, machines
Sylvain Terminiello: bass

Plates and drinks from 19:30.
