LUCKY PETERSON @ Festival Banlieues Bleues (31/03/2018) 20:30

Concert as part of the 35th edition of the "Banlieues Bleues" festival.

Twelve years after Jimmy Smith's death, Lucky Peterson pays tribute to the genius of the Hammond organ master. "My father nourished me with blues before I could walk. And I played the organ before I could speak." Lucky Peterson has managed to add a good helping of groove to this irreducible blues of which he is the flame keeper today. This is without a doubt the fitting formula to honour Jimmy Smith, a reference in the field of soul jazz with whom he performed during his young years. In the end, this journey in history reminds us of how sensuous the 50s and 60s hymns remain, as to make the choir of a church dance...
