FOCUS ON JUNE...A rich and eclectic programme in this month of June: afrobeat, free jazz, fusion, world, funk or improvised music, there will be something for all tastes! On June 5th, don't miss the closing concert of the "Henri sees Red!" season where Henri Fiore will invite you to discover his latest creations from his delirious imagination. On June 11th, en route for Toulon where Ahmad Compaoré will perform at the Hôtel des Arts for an evocative and poetic solo with Mediterranean influences. On June 7th and 12th, make way for two duos at Le JAM, a new intimate venue located at La Plaine, in the vein of a New-York jazz club. On June 21st, we'll celebrate all the colours of music with a very funky Ahmad Compaoré & Friends new combo. Finally on June 26th, we'll end on a high note at the Yamzz Club with the trio Nafas and special guest guitarist Wim Welker. Enjoy your gigs and a great summer to all...! |

Jazz à Porquerolles joins with the Hôtel des Arts de Toulon for a series of contemporary music concerts with some of the most thrilling musicians of the moment. Ahmad Compaoré is a musician of freedom. With feet, fists and hands, he strikes, whips and strokes the brass of the cymbals and the skins of his drums. Of Egyptian and Burkinabé origins, he confirms his singular talent alongside Fred Frith, Marc Ribot, Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Camel Zekri or Egyptian choreographer Karima Mansour. Free from boundaries, his musical world is a subtle mix of jazz, fusion and world music, sustained by Oriental and African influences, with great detours in improvisation. Their first encounter dates back from 1990 when they are brought to work together on the creation of the rock opera "Helter-Skelter" by Fred Frith. Ever since, their path has been marked by various collaborations in music, dance and theater. The duo is the form in which their common past can express itself to the full but also the one that gives free rein to all experimentations.
